Praise the Lord with heart and voice. Let all men on earth rejoice.
- Tell
of him in loud acclaim. Sing the wonders of his name.
Sing with joy for grace made known, Wondrous love to all men shown.
Tell of him in loud acclaim. Sing the wonders of his name.
- Father,
God, eternal Friend, Thou art life; there is no end.
All creation ev'rywhere Lives in thee, for

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty,
72 - Joachim Neander, trans. by
Catherine Winkworth
- Praise
to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise him, for he is thy health and salvation!
Join the great throng, Psaltery, organ, and song, Sounding in glad
adoration!
- Praise
to the Lord! Over all things he gloriously reigneth.
Borne as on eagle wings, safely his Saints he sustaineth.
Hast thou not seen How all thou needest hath
been Granted in what he ordaineth?
- Praise
to the Lord, who doth prosper thy way and defend thee.
Surely his goodness and mercy shall ever attend thee.
Ponder anew What the Almighty can do, Who with his love doth befriend
thee.
- Praise
to the Lord! Oh, let all that is in me adore him!
All that hath breath, join with Abraham's seed to adore him!
Let the "amen" Sum all our praises again, Now as we worship
before him.

Praise to the Man,
27 - William W. Phelps
- Praise
to the man who communed with Jehovah! Jesus anointed that Prophet and
Seer.
Blessed to open the last dispensation, Kings shall extol him, and
nations revere.
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven! Traitors and tyrants now fight
him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren; Death cannot conquer
the hero again.
- Praise
to his mem'ry, he died as a martyr; Honored
and blest be his ever great name!
Long shall his blood, which was shed by assassins, Plead unto heav'n while the earth lauds his fame.
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven! Traitors and tyrants now fight
him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren; Death cannot conquer
the hero again.
- Great
is his glory and endless his priesthood. Ever and ever the keys he will
hold.
Faithful and true, he will enter his kingdom, Crowned in the midst of
the prophets of old.
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven! Traitors and tyrants now fight
him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren; Death cannot conquer
the hero again.
- Sacrifice
brings forth the blessings of heaven; Earth must atone for the blood of
that man.
Wake up the world for the conflict of justice. Millions shall know
"Brother Joseph" again.
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven! Traitors and tyrants now fight
him in vain.
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren; Death cannot conquer
the hero again.

Praise Ye the Lord,
74 - Isaac Watts; based on Psalm 146
- Praise
ye the Lord! My heart shall join In work so pleasant, so divine,
Now, while the flesh is my abode, And when my soul ascends to God.
- Praise
shall employ my noblest pow'rs While
immortality endures;
My days of praise shall ne'er be past While life and thought and being
last.
- Why
should I make a man my trust? Princes must die and turn to dust.
Their breath departs; their pomp and pow'r And
thoughts all vanish in an hour.
- Happy
the man whose hopes rely On Israel's Go! He made the sky
And earth and seas with all their train, And none shall find his promise
vain.
- His
truth forever stands secure. He saves th'
oppressed; he feeds the poor;
He sends the troubled conscience peace And grants the captive sweet
release.
- The
Lord gives eyesight to the blind; The Lord supports the sinking mind.
He helps the stranger in distress, The widow, and the fatherless.
- He
loves the Saints--he knows them well, But turns the wicked down to hell.
Thy God, O Zion, ever reigns; Praise him in everlasting strains.

Prayer Is the Soul's Sincere Desire,
145 - James Montgomery
- Prayer
is the soul's sincere desire, Uttered or unexpressed,
The motion of a hidden fire That trembles in the breast.
- Prayer
is the burden of a sigh, The falling of a tear,
The upward glancing of an eye When none but God is near.
- Prayer
is the simplest form of speech That infant lips can try;
Prayer, the sublimest strains that reach The
Majesty on high.
- Prayer
is the Christian's vital breath, The Christian's native air,
His watchword at the gates of death; He enters heav'n
with prayer.
- Prayer
is the contrite sinner's voice, Returning from his ways,
While angels in their songs rejoice And cry, "Behold, he
prays!"
- The
Saints in prayer appear as one In word and deed and mind,
While with the Father and the Son Their fellowship they find.
- Nor
prayer is made on earth alone: The Holy Spirit pleads,
And Jesus at the Father's throne For sinners intercedes.
- O
thou by whom we come to God, The Life, the Truth, the Way!
The path of prayer thyself hast trod; Lord, teach us how to pray.

Prayer of Thanksgiving,
93 - Anonymous, The Netherlands, trans. by Theodore Baker.
- We
gather together to ask the Lord's blessing; He chastens, and hastens his
will to make known;
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing. Sing praises to his
name; He forgets not his own.
- Beside
us to guide us, our God with us joining, Ordaining, maintaining his
kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning; Thou, Lord, wast at our side; All glory be thine!
- We
all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant, And pray that thou still our
defender wilt be.
Let thy congregation escape tribulation; Thy name be ever praised! Oh
Lord, make us free!

Precious Savior, Dear Redeemer,
103 - H. R. Palmer
- Precious
Savior, dear Redeemer, Thy sweet message no impart.
May thy Spirit, pure and fervid, Enter ev'ry
timid heart;
Carry there the swift conviction, Turning back the sinful tide.
Precious Savior, dear Redeemer, May each soul in thee abide.
- Precious
Savior, dear Redeemer, We are weak but thou art strong;
In thy infinite compassion, Stay the tide of sin and wrong.
Keep thy loving arms around us; Keep us in the narrow way.
Precious Savior, dear Redeemer, Let us never from thee stray.
- Precious
Savior, dear Redeemer, Thou wilt bind the broken heart.
Let not sorrow overwhelm us; Dry the bitter tears that start.
Curb the winds and calm the billows; Bid the angry tempest cease.
Precious Savior, dear Redeemer, Grant us everlasting peace.

Put Your Shoulder to the Wheel,
252 - Will L. Thompson
- The
world has need of willing men Who wear the worker's seal.
Come, help the good work move along; Put your shoulder to the wheel.
Put your shoulder to the wheel; push along, Do your duty with a heart
full of song,
We all have work; let no one shirk. Put your shoulder to the wheel.
- The
Church has need of helping hands, And hearts that know and feel.
The work to do is here for you; Put your shoulder to the wheel.
Put your shoulder to the wheel; push along, Do your duty with a heart
full of song,
We all have work; let no one shirk. Put your shoulder to the wheel.
- Then
don't stand idly looking on; The fight with sin is real.
It will be long but must go on; Put your shoulder to the wheel.
Put your shoulder to the wheel; push along, Do your duty with a heart
full of song,
We all have work; let no one shirk. Put your shoulder to the wheel.
- Then
work and watch and fight and pray With all your might and zeal.
Push ev'ry worthy work along; Put your
shoulder to the wheel.
Put your shoulder to the wheel; push along, Do your duty with a heart
full of song,
We all have work; let no one shirk. Put your shoulder to the wheel.
